Naomi began practicing yoga in 2001, and immediately fell in love. Focusing exclusively on Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga at first, her practice gradually broadened to incorporate elements of other yogic traditions. From her very first class she knew that yoga was more than just a practice on the mat, but a way of life, an opening and awakening of the mind, and a vehicle to self-realization of the spirit.
With over 600 hours of training in Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa Flow, Hot Vinyasa, Hot 26 and Yin Yoga, Naomi is also a certified instructor in Animal Flow®, an innovative quadrupedal and ground-based movement technique that emphasizes multi-planar, fluid movement. Naomi’s passion for combining movement with breath to create a moving meditation comes through in her challenging yet playful flow classes that interweave together the Yang and the Yin while focusing on maintaining the breath throughout and listening to the body, the teacher within.
"I love exploring every aspect of yoga and movement that I can, and while I continue my study of many traditions: from the strength of Power Vinyasa to the joy of precision in Iyengar to the sweaty discipline of Bikram to the deep meditation and release of Yin, I enjoy incorporating other movement techniques from dance, martial arts and bodyweight training programs like Animal Flow®, keeping it creative, playful and fun.
For as passionate as I am about my practice, a key aspect for me is keeping it playful. As I've let my practice unfold with lightness and playfulness, not pushing or expecting but accepting, learning, enjoying and growing, I have witnessed a transformation within myself and within my yoga that I only dreamed about once upon a time. I love to share this playfulness with others, and witness their journey of self discovery. Yoga is ever-present, not just when we stretch our bodies, but yoga becomes a stretching of the mind, and most of all, the spirit. I hope we can explore, grow and play together.
